Delta's Film Acting Academy: Voice and Speech
"To free the voice is to free the person" ~ Kristin Linklater
What is Voice and Speech Training?
Voice and Speech training brings together the mechanics of the voice and the unique instrument of the performer. An actor/performer brings unique life experiences and goals, unique emotional, physical and sensory memory and an unique instrument (psychologically, anatomically and physiologically) to his/her craft. It is the job of the actor to unlock his/her true and authentic voice and to develop a strong and sound technique that will be reliable and consistent. Physical relaxation, physical awareness, vocal resonance and articulation, diction, exploration of pitch and tone and most importantly breath work are the building blocks in an actor's ever-evolving vocal toolkit.
Why is it important for actors?
Where/who do we draw our knowledge base from?
